Theatre at Disney

Theatre that I witnessed/ worked at Magic Kingdom
  • Welcome Show
    • On most mornings before the Magic Kingdom opens, a Welcome Show is held on the train station platform. This show features the characters arriving by train to open the park and welcome the guests. It is always a thrill to see a train full of characters, and the show makes each day seem like a special one.

  • Main Street Trolley Show
    • "Imagine living life a little more slowly than at today's superfast pace. You can when you climb aboard any of this charming transportation inspired by the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Catch a ride in Town Square or in front of Cinderella Castle for your nostalgic one-way journey." WDW website

  • Frontierland Hoedown

"A cast member from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad walks into the street. Then other cast members – dressed in appropriate costumes – and Frontierland characters start to dance. Among the characters who participate are the Country Bears, Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Fox, and Bre’er Bear. After the choreographed group dance, Disney guests are invited to join in the fun – with dancing and a processional for kids of all ages. The result is a lively line dance and hoedown in which Disney's choreographed action and spontaneous guests participation  create a show in which guests are the true stars of the show. The guest portion, which includes the Hokey Pokey, is particularly popular with young children. For guests who want to take advantage of the chance to literally dance in the streets of the Magic Kingdom – and who doesn’t have the urge? – simply head to Frontierland from Main Street and hang out. Because the show emphasizes spontaneity, times for the Hoedown are not published." taken from WDW Blog

  • Country Bear Jamboree
    • "Join the talented cast of 18 musically-inclined bears as they perform continuous 17-minute shows featuring country music-style classics—to the delight of fans big and small. The rustic review is infused with a down-home sensibility that includes plenty of great music, broad humor and a few unexpected surprises. The show starts when the three stuffed animal heads mounted on the walls—named Buff, Max and Melvin—show more life than might be expected. Grizzly Hall's emcee, Henry, introduces us to a colorful variety of gifted bears who each make an appearance, sing a few songs and display their expertise on a variety of musical instruments. Look for the crowd favorite; a towering mammoth with a soulful heart named, appropriately, Big Al. Country Bear Jamboree is one of the very last attractions that Walt Disney personally helped develop. The show was originally planned for a never-built Disney ski resort in Mineral King, California. When that project did not come to fruition, the bears happily moved out to Florida in 1971 and have been performing daily at Magic Kingdom theme park ever since." Straight from WDW website

  • Flag Retreat Ceremony
    • The flag retreat ceremony is an occasion to be marked rather than a form of Disney entertainment, paying respect to the U.S. flag and what it represents. Disney’s ceremony also acknowledges those individuals who have served in the armed forces: past, present and future. The flag retreat ceremony includes an honor guard, music, and announcements. Veterans and all guests are welcomed and encouraged to attend the event. As part of the flag lowering, the ceremony features an honor guard; a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the U.S. national anthem, music for each of the U.S. military branches, and other American patriotic music; and a recital of “The Pledge of Allegiance” of the United States. A marching band – often the Disneyland Marching Band and the Main Street Philharmonic, respectively, although other bands may perform – and the Dapper Dans barbershop quartet perform at the ceremony.  Veterans are also honored during Disney’s daily flag retreat ceremony. A Disney guest who is a veteran is selected near the park’s entrance early in the day. That person is then invited to participate in the later ceremony by carrying the folded flag. During the ceremony, the veteran’s service is read and a photographer records the moment.

  • Main Street Philarmonic
    • "The Main Street Philharmonic, a 12-piece brass and percussion ensemble, plays in Town Square, re-creating a turn-of-the-century ambience with tunes like “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” “76 Trombones” and “Alexander’s Rag Time Band.”" WDW website

  • Paino Player at Casey's Corner
    •  There's something magic about a big juicy hot dog and a Coke on a hot summer day. It reminds you of days gone by. Inside Casey's there is a lot of baseball momentos and a big screen TV playing cartoon clips with bleachers for kids to sit in. Outside, they have a piano player jam out just like the old pianists of the days of Main Street.

  • Main Street Electrical Parade
    •  "Returning to Walt Disney World Resort, this favorite parade is more dazzling than ever. With enhanced lighting technology, like LED and special effects, the glittering procession lights up Main Street, U.S.A. and makes its way through Magic Kingdom Park.Fun-loving and feisty, Tinker Bell now leads the parade, lighting the way with a wave of her wand, spreading pixie dust and good cheer. Aboard a new float, she's elevated above an enchanting garden that will "leave" you green with envy. Orchestrating the magic, Tink has generously spread pixie dust to all the floats in the parade, creating a colorful reflection of shimmering fairy light along the way. You'll see new floats making their dazzling debut at Magic Kingdom Park. Inspired by "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," the beloved dwarfs are "off to work," toiling in a mine, where they may make some glittering discoveries. And harkening back to another animated classic, Pinocchio and the Pleasure Island boys have yet to learn their lesson about horsing around and getting into mischief!" Straight from WDW website
